Snapchat gets Hacked After One hour of the Security Update Rollout

It could not have get more worse for the developing team of the popular Snapchat application. A security update was released and interestingly it got hacked few hours later.

Lately, Snapchat has come under huge fire since the data of 4.6 million snapchat user has been leaked on the Internet. It was a great setback for the company as they believed that it is the highly secured social networking site.

In order to improve the level of security they released the new security update which was supposed to distinguish the bots from the normal users thus ensuring a high level of security. The company believed it will help them in improving the level of security and will eventually put a barrier to hacking. The main purpose behind this update was that bots will not be able to identify the ghosts thus they will fail to retrieve the user data.

Actually, ghosts are snapchat images which help in distinguishing the bots from actual users. According to hacker Steven Hickson, he has developed a toll which can allow bots to identify the ghosts by matching key areas and points. Well, the issue is that these ghosts or snapchat images does not change continuously. SO, it is very easy to create tool which can quite easily identify the ghosts. This makes the application and more vulnerable.

It is not only hacker Steven Hickson who has raised voice against the low security level of the snapchat but a 17 year old hacker from Texas has also claimed that snapchat has very security level and this will not be fixed with any update until and unless they do not work on improving the basics of this application. To be honest this is a serious concern for all the snapchat users and they look towards the developers for the fix.

Let’s wait and see how much time it will take for the developers to improve the security. Will they ever be able to make the system more secure and protected? Or they will fail just like they did this time?
